AARF Volunteer Application and Agreement

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for AARF. As an almost all-volunteer run organization, we depend on the caring members of the community to achieve the goal of saving animals. Volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience:

  • Spend time with adoptable cats — fun for you and beneficial for them

  • Help homeless dogs and cats find their forever homes and families

  • Meet other people who share your passion for animals

  • Make a difference

  • We offer training, flexibility, and a wide variety of opportunities to match your interests and skills

If you are interested in getting involved, simply submit a volunteer application. No matter how much time you have or what skills you possess, we’re positive we can find a spot for you on our team!

Volunteers must read and sign this volunteer agreement prior to working with AARF.

Liability

As a non-profit organization that handles many animals, AARF does not always have a medical or behavioral history for animals with which volunteers may work. While some training may be provided, a certain amount of risk is always involved with unpredictable animals. AARF strongly recommends that all volunteers have current tetanus vaccinations and that those who have suppressed immune systems consult with a physician prior to volunteering.

Code of Conduct

The reputation and growth of AARF depends on ethical excellence. Every volunteer of AARF is a representative of the organization. As a volunteer, I am expected to:

  • Treat all animals, people (volunteers, staff, and the public), and property I come in contact with at AARF with respect and courtesy.

  • I will demonstrate honesty and goodwill as long as I am a volunteer with AARF. If a situation arises that can not be dealt with in a professional manner, I will seek out the advise of my supervisor or the director of AARF.

  • I understand that it is the policy of AARF not to disclose information about animals’ former owners to potential adopters. Any discussions regarding potential adopters must be confined to an area not accessible to the general public.

  • If I am no longer volunteering with AARF, I will promptly return all supplies, equipment, animals, monies, or other items in the condition that I received them or reimburse/replace as deemed appropriate.
