Volunteer FAQs

  • You must be 16 years old to volunteer independently. We accept volunteers that are 12-15 years old to volunteer with a parent or guardian.

  • AARF is always looking for volunteers with any level of experience as long as they love animals! Some opportunities will require training. However, there are some volunteer opportunities that don’t even involve contact with the animals. Maybe you are allergic, but you want to help! We will make it work!

  • On the volunteer application, you can specify things that you might be interested in doing. We try to match your interests and skills to our currents needs.

  • Yes, many volunteer opportunities require some training.  Depending on what you will be doing, there may be a group training session. Some tasks require very specific knowledge of what to do, but many don’t. Before beginning any volunteer service, you will receive full instruction, and someone is always available to help.  

  • You immediately report the injury to your supervisor.
